It took the mighty U.S. military more than a month to flush the rebels out in 2004. The battle to regain the city caused massive destruction and had turned most of it into heaps of ruins.
But the rebels, most of whom had retreated to the countryside to escape devastating U.S. firepower, have reorganized their ranks and are now using more sophisticated means to drive the Americans away.
Referring the the Mai Lai massacre, an army office once remarked at theCongressional hearings on this that "We had to destroy the city in order to save it".
Unfortunately, Iraqis are experiencing more of the same from the US in their country.

If you thought the United States had a secure, state-of-the-art ballistic missile defense shield deployed around Fort Greely, Alaska, to that could have shot down any North Korean ICBM during the crisis last July, think again.
Pyongyang's attempt to test fire an ambitious Taepodong-2 intercontinental ballistic missile failed and the ambitious giant rocket exploded not long after take-off. But at least it got off the ground. The much-vaunted Ground-based Midcourse Interceptors, or GBIs, around Fort Greely never even got that far.
For this week, the Project on Government Oversight, or POGO -- a non-government U.S. watchdog body founded in 1981 -- reported that several of the key interceptors could never even have been launched, not because of North Korea sabotage, or sabotage by anyone else, but because of rain.

"As a former General Electric Turbine engineering specialist and manager and then CEO of a turbine engineering company, I can guarantee that none of the high tech, high temperature alloy engines on any of the four planes that crashed on 9/11 would be completely destroyed, burned, shattered or melted in any crash or fire. Wrecked, yes, but not destroyed. Where are all of those engines, particularly at the Pentagon? If jet powered aircraft crashed on 9/11, those engines, plus wings and tail assembly, would be there.
Additionally, in my experience as an officer in NORAD as a Tactical Director for the Chicago-Milwaukee Air Defense and as a current private pilot, there is no way that an aircraft on instrument flight plans (all commercial flights are IFR) would not be intercepted when they deviate from their flight plan, turn off their transponders, or stop communication with Air Traffic Control. No way! With very bad luck, perhaps one could slip by, but no there's no way all four of them could!
Finally, going over the hill and highway and crashing into the Pentagon right at the wall/ground interface is nearly impossible for even a small slow single engine airplane and no way for a 757. Maybe the best pilot in the world could accomplish that but not these unskilled "terrorists".
Attempts to obscure facts by calling them a "Conspiracy Theory" does not change the truth. It seems, "Something is rotten in the State."

Liberal Kingpins Help Bush War Agenda - Neo-Cons in sheep's clothing
Mar 22, 2007 1:30 AM PDT | Paul Joseph Watson | Prison Planet
Nancy Pelosi, who deliberately stripped the Iraq funding bill of a provision that would have required President Bush to seek congressional approval before launching any new war on Iran, a "disastrous misstep could haunt her and the Congress for years to come," according to John Nichols of The Nation.
MoveOn.org, a liberal advocacy group that preaches anti-war sentiment on its website, issued an endorsement for the war bill on Monday, aligning its 3.3 million members with Bush's agenda to keep feeding U.S. troops, who now "want out," into the imperial meat grinder. Anti-war Democrats told The Politico that they were being aggressively pressured and threatened with funding denials unless they supported the war bill.
The backlash against MoveOn.org is already brewing.
"MoveOn put out a dishonest poll that did not offer its members a real choice to end the war, and now the peace movement is lobbying activists to reform MoveOn or drop off its list," said David Swanson, a board member of Progressive Democrats of America, said in an e-mail to The Politico. "I unsubscribed from MoveOn this morning."

The crisis is being compounded by other developments. According to latest reports, the Pakistani Taliban have seized control of settled areas such as Tank in North West Frontier Province, and the leader of the Awami National Party, Isfandyar Wali, revealed on television that the Taliban now control Frontier Region (FR) Kohat, just 15 kilometers from the provincial capital, Peshawar. "I am constantly saying that Taliban are very rapidly getting powerful in the North West Frontier Province, but nobody is listening to me," said Wali.
FR Kohat is hardly three hours from the national capital, Islamabad, and such a development will undoubtedly bolster the anti-Musharraf forces. As it is, Islamabad itself is home to many Taliban who have been preparing for Musharraf's ouster.

Group supporting Rosie O'Donnell intimidated, fracas causes O'Donnell to leave
A 9/11 truth organization supporting and attempting to speak with Rosie O'Donnell about her recent comments regarding the September 11 attacks outside the ABC studios were harassed and intimidated by New York City police, a scene that caused O'Donnell to prematurely leave.
O'Donnell has been attacked by Neo-Con webzines over the last few days but completely ignored by the corporate media for controversial comments questioning the official 9/11 story.
Police were out in force to harass a group of about twenty 9/11 truth movement activists, led by Luke Rudkowski of We Are Change, telling them to take down signs, turn off video cameras and cell phones, checking ID's and taking information - despite the fact that they were simply news gathering and exercising their first amendment.
Officers were uncomfortable that their own image would be caught on camera, despite their demands for information from the group and a myriad of surveillance cameras pointed at the protesters from police cars and nearby buildings.

NYC 3/21 Demonstration of Support for Rosie O'Donnell at ABC

NY911Truth and CHANGE will be outside ABC’s the Views Studios this Wednesday to support Rosie O'Donnell courageous and brave actions standing up for 9-11 truth. Rosie O'Donnell has been Ignored by most of the 9-11 truth movement and Ignored by the mass media. We as citizens of New York say enough is enough and were going to show Rosie support for Standing up for the truth. We’re going to be outside ABC studios with our “9-11 was an inside” banner and “Thank You Rosie Sign’s”, anyone is welcome to come.
After Rosie O'Donnell gone public doubting the official story of 9/11, the main stream media has openly ignored Rosie O'Donnell just like they ignore the family members of 9/11 victims and first responders who question the official story of 9/11.
The main stream media concentrates their efforts on mindless fluff like the dispute between Rosie O'Donnell and Donald Trump. Why won’t they cover Rosie O'Donnell talking about 9/11 truth? It is clearly evident the establishment media knows about this story and has chosen the blackout option, rather than the discrediting method of debunking. The truth behind 9-11 can longer be debunked.

Flashback: Bush advisor: President has legal power to torture children by crushing their testicles
Flashback: The CIA took Khalid Sheik Mohammed's 7 and 9 year old sons into custody
» from: 01/08/06 | Philip Watts | Information Clearing House
John Yoo publicly argued there is no law that could prevent the President from ordering the torture of a child of a suspect in custody – including by crushing that child’s testicles.
This came out in response to a question in a December 1st debate in Chicago with Notre Dame professor and international human rights scholar Doug Cassel.
What is particularly chilling and revealing about this is that John Yoo was a key architect post-9/11 Bush Administration legal policy.

Two young sons of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the September 11 attacks, are being used by the CIA to force their father to talk.
Yousef al-Khalid, nine, and his brother, Abed al-Khalid, seven, were taken into custody in Pakistan last September when intelligence officers raided a flat in Karachi where their father had been hiding.
The boys have been held by the Pakistani authorities but this weekend they were flown to America where they will be questioned about their father.
Last night CIA interrogators confirmed that the boys were staying at a secret address where they were being encouraged to talk about their father's activities.

Were the crimes of the Bush administration those that demand you give up your life and everyday commitments to throw yourself into maximum resistance? If not, then what were we waiting for?..
These days Americans seem to be waking up one at a time, groggy and embittered, from the hypnotic nightmare that was the Bush administration's one great success - spreading a miasma of fear and patriotic submissiveness that made it possible to mount an illegal and immoral war, piss on the bill of rights, burn the constitution and violate international charters on human rights and prisoners of war with widespread torture. None of the sleepers seems to remember that they were part of the legions who obeyed the orders to fear and hate - but we welcome the latecomers into our ranks anyway...

Hollywood has a thing for Al Gore and his three-alarm film on global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” which won an Academy Award for best documentary. So do many environmentalists, who praise him as a visionary, and many scientists, who laud him for raising public awareness of climate change.
But part of his scientific audience is uneasy. In talks, articles and blog entries that have appeared since his film and accompanying book came out last year, these scientists argue that some of Mr. Gore’s central points are exaggerated and erroneous. They are alarmed, some say, at what they call his alarmism.

Well, just as it’s important, I think, for a president to know when to commit U.S. forces to combat, it’s also important to know when not to commit U.S. forces to combat. I think for us to get American military personnel involved in a civil war inside Iraq would literally be a quagmire. Once we got to Baghdad, what would we do? Who would we put in power? What kind of government would we have? Would it be a Sunni government, a Shi’a government, a Kurdish government? Would it be secular, along the lines of the Ba’ath Party? Would be fundamentalist Islamic? I do not think the United States wants to have U.S. military forces accept casualties and accept the responsibility of trying to govern Iraq. I think it makes no sense at all.

As the military scrambles to pour more soldiers into Iraq, a unit of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga., is deploying troops with serious injuries and other medical problems, including GIs who doctors have said are medically unfit for battle. Total Information Awareness is Back
posted: Mar 9, 2007 0:15 AM PST | Steve Watson | Infowars
The Pentagon's super snoop "Total Information Awareness" program is back in business, just as we predicted it would be.
Congress attempted to kill the ill-conceived DARPA program in 2003. But instead, the program, designed to somehow find terrorists from documenting everyone's credit card bills, car rental receipts and travel records, went underground and has now returned, bigger and stronger and worse than ever.
The Washington Times' Audrey Hudson is reporting:
Homeland Security officials are testing a supersnoop computer system that sifts through personal information on U.S. citizens to detect possible terrorist attacks, prompting concerns from lawmakers who have called for investigations.
The system uses the same data-mining process that was developed by the Pentagon's Total Information Awareness (TIA) project that was banned by Congress in 2003 because of vast privacy violations.
In an Infowars.net article on domestic surveillance from December 2005, I wrote:
Shortly after the announcement of TIA, the Pentagon backtracked and told us that TIA was shutting down, but the tools are there waiting to be used, They'll just rename it and start it up again at any given time. The Tools of TIA include "LifeLog" which is described as "a multimedia, digital record of everywhere you go and everything you see, hear, read, say and touch". Another tool is the MATRIX database, A federally funded crime database run by multiple states at once.
The AP had reported this in September 2003, in an article entitled Pentagon office creating surveillance system to close, stating "But they left open the possibility that some or all of the high-powered software tools under development might be used by different government offices to gather foreign intelligence from foreigners, U.S. citizens abroad or foreigners in the United States." So it was not hard to predict the return of the all seeing all knowing surveillance agenda program.

Editor of WhatReallyHappened.com, and TV visual effects specialist Michael Rivero saw the Building 7 photo we posted in our earlier article and had some interesting comments about the small fires seen in the image.
Now, those are real fires, and stuff is really burning, but those fires are all up against the windows. There does not appear to be any fire deeper inside the building. A real fire would have blown through the tunnels from the towers, gone up the elevator shafts, and spread out from the core. The more I look at THESE fires in the photo I get the sense they were deliberately set to create a reason for the building to come down.
I know there is no way to prove that, of course. But that is what they look like to me. It does not make sense that fire supposedly blown up through the elevator shafts would just plant itself in a few offices up against the glass and leave the rest of the floors uninvolved.
The photograph (larger photo) was taken at around 3PM on 9/11, approximately 2 hours 20 minutes before the collapse of WTC 7 (or around 1 hour 54 minutes if you're the BBC haha).

We should have known it was coming. Even though the Democratic Party rode the antiwar wave in to Congress last November they’ve done little since to end the bloody war in Iraq.

Quote of the day:
Let me clear it up for any moron with lingering doubts: It's worse. It's over. You lost. You lost the day your tanks rolled into Baghdad to the cheers of your imported, American-trained monkeys. You lost every single family whose home your soldiers violated. You lost every sane, red-blooded Iraqi when the Abu Ghraib pictures came out and verified your atrocities behind prison walls as well as the ones we see in our streets. You lost when you brought murderers, looters, gangsters and militia heads to power and hailed them as Iraq's first democratic government. You lost when a gruesome execution was dubbed your biggest accomplishment. You lost the respect and reputation you once had. You lost more than 3,000 troops. That is what you lost America. I hope the oil, at least, made it worthwhile. - Riverbend
The Rape of Sabrine...

No Iraqi woman under the circumstances- under any circumstances- would publicly, falsely claim she was raped. There are just too many risks. There is the risk of being shunned socially. There is the risk of beginning an endless chain of retaliations and revenge killings between tribes. There is the shame of coming out publicly and talking about a subject so taboo, she and her husband are not only risking their reputations by telling this story, they are risking their lives.
Maliki's Reaction: As expected, Al Maliki is claiming the rape allegations are all lies. Apparently, his people simply asked the officers if they raped Sabrine Al Janabi and they said no. I'm so glad that's been cleared up.

One of the three alleged "terrorists", Muhammad, 25, gave birth to a daughter after her arrest and is still nursing the child in prison. A second, Talib, 31, is also in prison with her three-year-old child, according to Amnesty International.
The accused were denied the right of legal defence, Walid Hayali, a lawyer, said. He was barred from representing the three in court, he added. The passing of a death sentence on the mother of a newly born child was also in violation of a specific UN safeguard, they added.
