A US appeals court has struck down a lawsuit brought by a California fishing vessel that sought changes to the way the government allocates quota for hake, which is also known as Pacific whiting, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The vessel Pacific Dawn and processor Jessie's Ilwaco Fish Co brought the lawsuit in 2013 against the Secretary of Commerce and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration alleging that a 2011 rules change for quota allocation was done in an "arbitrary" manner [...]
