Canadian coldwater shrimp harvester Baffin Fisheries Coalition has sued its former CEO weeks after firing him for allegedly defrauding the company, the CBC reports
The coalition, which is owned by hunters and trappers' groups in five communities in the province of Nunavut, filed suit against Garth Reid in a court in Newfoundland and Labrador. The suit seeks the recovery of CAD 1.4 million ($1.09m) in damages.
The suit claims that Reid, the company's CEO until he was terminated two weeks ago, was building on private land he owned in Winterton, Newfoundland, but billed the work to the fishing company and a subsidiary [...]
