The Canadian Coast Guard tells Undercurrent News that ice conditions in the Cabot Strait and western Newfoundland were "difficult and dynamic" throughout the weekend, slowing its ability to tow to safety the Jana Desgagnes, a disabled oil tanker carrying eight million liters (2.1m gallons) of refined petroleum.
