The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on Tuesday released its biennial abundance estimate for endangered beluga whales in Alaska's Cook Inlet. Scientists estimate that between 250 and 317 still remain in the area, allowing for a median estimate of 279.
