Australian salmon farmer Huon Aquaculture Group has said it will see some changes to its forecast production volumes for this financial year and the next as it adjusts its harvesting strategy in light of the national lockdown and closure of foodservice channels due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The company, which had been on target to exceed its guided harvest volume of 25,000 metric tons for the financial year ending June 31, 2020, has now said it will delay the harvest of its 2019 year class until "such time as channels to market begin to normalize".
As a result, it expects its FY 2020 harvest volumes to fall some 5%-10% below the guided target. In contrast, harvests in FY 2021 could be up by as much as 20-25% over the firm's original guidance of 30,000t [...]
