Chilean salmon production is expected to drop by nearly 10% in 2021, according to the results of the Global Outlook on Aquaculture Leadership (GOAL) survey, while other countries besides the traditional giants look set to play a more prominent role in the sector's growth in the coming years.
Presented by Rabobank's Gorjan Nikolik at the Global Aquaculture Alliance's annual conference, the data -- collected by analysis firm Kontali -- painted a bleak picture for Chilean salmon production next year, with volumes dropping by 9.4% to close to 650,000 metric tons in 2021.
