Icelandic whitefish exporter and processor IceMar has its attention fixed firmly on North America's retail sector in 2021 after a surprisingly successful year for the firm, CEO Gunnar Orlygsson told Undercurrent News.
By sheer good fortune, Orlygsson's firm installed a new frozen line at its processing factory in early 2020, just before the onset of national lockdowns. Complete with X-ray, filleting and grading capabilities, the new line from manufacturer Valka boosted the firm's freezing capacity by approximately 30% to a potential annual production of 8,000-9,000 metric tons, Orlygsson explained -- though he noted his firm was only expecting to process 5,000t or so this year [...]
