Austral Fisheries, an Australian fishing and processing half-owned by Japan's Maruha Nichiro, has acquired Brisbane-based Moreton Bay Seafoods, the former announced.
Moreton Bay is one of Australia's most enduring seafood businesses with strong brand recognition in key local and international markets and a reputation for consistency of supply and quality since 1976, said Western Australia-based Austral.
Adding Moreton Bay's catch to Austral's will increase overall processing volumes at the former's Brisbane facility, which currently employs 30 people. The move will also enable Austral to expand trading with east coast suppliers, and improve Austral's ability to facilitate the import and export of a wider range of products due to the facility's strategic location [...]
