Canada extends snow crab season yet againFisheries and Oceans Canada has again extended the snow crab season in crab fishing area (CFA) 3Ps.
The fishery will now close at 8 p.m. Newfoundland Daylight Time on July 28. On July 11, DFO advised the season in CFA 3Ps (10A, 10B, 11S, 11W and 11E) and also 3K (3B, 3BC, 3C, 3D and Area 4) would be extended to July 21 instead of July 14, the previously rescheduled closing date. US shrimp import pricing 'pop' expected after inevitable rebound
It's unclear when US shrimp import pricing will finally push off the bottom, but the rebound is likely to be significant when it happens, market sources say.
"I would estimate that when purchasing starts, we would be looking at an increase of 7-12% in the near term," Jim Gulkin, CEO of Thai-based seafood trading firm Siam Canadian Group, told Undercurrent News. Click here for the full story.
