Norwegian salmon producer Leroy Seafood Group has announced an investment in Salmonics, a US biotechnology company based in Brunswick, Maine.
The investment, announced on Thursday (July 18, 2024), aims to develop further and market Salmonics' biotechnological solutions derived from fish blood.
While the specific financial details of the investment were not disclosed, the announcement said the collaboration is set to enhance the global expansion of Salmonics' fish-blood-based biomedical products into the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.
Leroy is among Norway's major salmon producers, with 2023 revenues exceeding NOK 30 billion ($2.8b).
