The Lithuanian Long Distance Fisheries Association (LLDFA) has joined Europeche, the representative body for fishermen in the EU.
Europeche members unanimously approved the Vilnius-based group, which harvests northern shrimp, cod, halibut and other species.
"We are excited to collaborate with fellow European fishing organizations within Europeche to promote sustainable fishing rules and ensure the long-term viability of our industry," said Aivaras Labanauskas, the Lithuanian fisheries director.
Daniel Voces, Europeche's managing director, said the association brings "vital experience and expertise" in long-distance fleets.
LLDFA is Lithuania's largest fishing trade organization.
