In an ongoing recovery effort for missing crew members of the fishing vessel Argos Georgia, a search conducted by MV Pharos SG and another vessel yielded no new results, Mercopress reported. The Falkland Islands government reported that neither missing persons nor debris were found.
Thirteen crew members departed the Falkland Islands on July 27 via a military flight provided by Spain. One crew member remains in Stanley, awaiting return to their home country. The bodies of the nine deceased crew members are under the care of the coroner and will be flown to the UK for autopsies before being released to their families.
Vessels traversing the search area are advised to remain vigilant and report any findings to the Falklands Maritime Authority. The search and recovery operation has been distressing, and the Falkland Islands government expressed gratitude to all involved.
The UK's marine accident investigation branch has launched an inquiry into the incident, which resulted in nine deaths, four missing crew members, and fourteen survivors. Spain's standing investigation committee will also investigate the technical causes.
