The International Pole and Line Foundation (IPNLF) has added three new members to its global network: Indoneisa's Archipelagics, Japan's Ainan Coop, and Tanzania-based Samaki Bluu.
"We are excited to strengthen our relations in these key geographies and look forward to engaging with these new IPNLF members more closely," said IPNLF managing director Martin Purves.
These additions support IPNLF's mission to advocate for responsible tuna sourcing and sustainable fisheries management, contributing to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.
Archipelagics and Ainan Coop focus on both local and international markets, while Samaki Bluu is integral to Pemba Island's community and provides products to the Tanzanian mainland.
Archipelagics specializes in premium seafood products. With over two decades of experience and a specialization in premium tuna, snapper, grouper, and mahi mahi products, its sourcing model directly engages artisanal fishers in eastern Indonesia, ensuring meticulous grading, processing, and hand-packing of each fish, said IPNLF. The firm owns a vertically integrated US marketing operation.
Ainan Coop, based in the south of Japan, is committed to preserving traditional fishing methods and promoting responsible sourcing and is set to play a substantial role in shaping the future of the country's fishing sector, including skipjack tuna, it said.
Samaki Bluu partners with Pemba Island's small-scale fishing communities to advance sustainable fishing and protect marine resources. It focuses on training these groups in eco-friendly practices and enhancing the traceability of the fisheries' domestic value chain.
