Akwa, a company that is developing a land-based fish farm for rainbow trout in central Sweden, said it has become a public limited company. The firm said the process was completed on June 26, 2024.
The firm's project, located in the Alby industrial area outside Ange, Sweden, has a capacity of 6,000 metric tons per year.
The move to become a public limited company is part of the firm's expansion strategy, as it aims to attract new investors and strengthen its financial foundation. The firm said the change will increase the company's visibility and create more opportunities for collaborations and business.
"We are very pleased to announce that Big Akwa is now a public limited company, " said Elena Petukhovskaya, co-founder and CEO.
"This step is a natural progression for us and will help us continue our development. We look forward to welcoming new investors."
"Becoming a public limited company reflects investors' increasing interest in sustainability. We are proud to be able to offer our solutions to a wider market and continue to grow with the support of our shareholders," added board chairman Mats Lundqvist.
