Grieg Seafood has announced the appointment of Magnus Johannesen as its new global finance officer (GFO) and former Arnarlax CEO and founder Kristian Matthiasson as factory manager for the upcoming processing plant at Gadermoen, close to Oslo airport. 

Johannesen, who will step into his role as GFO at Grieg on Oct. 1, will further develop the company's finance group, the firm said. He will provide support to Atle Harald Sandtorv, the firm's chief financial officer, in financial and business decision-making.

"As the CFO of Grieg Seafood, I am confident that Magnus' extensive experience and leadership will drive continued growth and excellence within our organization. His insights and strategic approach will be invaluable as we navigate future opportunities in the seafood industry," said Sandtorv.

In a move to bolster its processing capabilities, Grieg Seafood has also appointed Matthiasson as the factory manager for its new processing plant at Gardermoen.

Matthiasson brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including his time with one of Iceland's most established salmon farmers and as managing director of Leines Seafood, where he specialized in producing frozen portions for major retailers like Aldi.

At Grieg's upcoming Gardermoen plant he will be responsible for identifying and implementing strategic initiatives to ensure the factory's success as it gears up to start receiving its first fish in the fall of 2025.

"The production of salmon has always been close to my heart, and I am excited to become part of the Grieg family. At the new factory in Gardermoen, we should have every opportunity to produce safe and high-quality products in a sustainable, efficient, and reliable manner. There is much to be done before we receive our first fish, and I am eager to take on this work," he said.
