Shogun, a new historical drama series set in Japan in 1600, was the big winner at the 2024 Emmy Awards Sunday evening, landing a record 18 wins. But one could also argue that sushi scored a major win at the awards show, too, as the 2024 Emmy winners and attendees walked away with swag bags containing more than $10,000 in gift vouchers to a swanky California-based sushi restaurant called Yamashiro Hollywood, according to a report from Independent.
The British online news service recounted many of the swag items awarded, including also multiple skincare, haircare, wellness, fashion, travel, technology and home decor gifts.
Yamashiro Hollywood is an authentic Japanese restaurant located in the Hollywood Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. Over the years, it has been highlighted as one of the restaurants with the best views of LA. It has also developed a reputation as a celebrity hotspot, hosting birthdays for Michael Jackson's youngest child and even catering events for Jersey Shore alum Vinny Guadagnino.
Seafood entrees at the upscale establishment range from pan-seared branzino ($43), to Chilean sea bass ($60), and a seafood platter topped with chix lobster, octopus, shrimp, and oysters ($95). Guests can also order authentic Nigiri, ranging from $15 for Faroe Island salmon to $35 for uni. Specialty rolls include the Baked Lobster (lobster, kanikama, shrimp, avocado, cucumber, green onions, crispy onions, dynamite sauce, eel sauce) for $42 and the Green Dragon (Daikon, shiso, salmon, tuna, hamachi, tai, cucumber, asparagus, avocado, nama shoyu) for $38.
But the real show stopper at Yamashiro is its sushi boats, which feature the chef's selection of Nigiri, rolls, sashimi and handrolls. Pricing starts at $264 for a small boat that feeds one to two people and $795 for a sushi yacht that feeds six to eight people.
The restaurant is part of Boulevard Hospitality Group (BHG), a management company that owns and/or operates big California venues like the TCL Chinese Theatre and Sugar Factory.
