Donald Trump has promised to end offshore wind in the US on day one of his next presidency -- a commitment that many in the commercial fishing industry applaud -- but will his cabinet pick carry out the task?
Trump announced Doug Burgum, the Republican governor of North Dakota since 2016, was his pick to run the Department of Interior (DOI) on Nov. 14, putting him in charge of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), the division within DOI that has the power to propel or stall offshore wind development.
Assuming he is confirmed by the US Senate, the 68-year-old politician is also expected to lead a newly created National Energy Council that will seek to establish US "energy dominance" around the world [...]
