South Korean seafood conglomerate Dongwon Industries has launched a new product, Tuna Yukhoe, MK reported.
Unlike traditional tuna sashimi, this new offering processes tuna to mimic the texture and presentation of raw beef (yukhoe), creating a unique culinary experience, according to Dongwon.
The product features tuna hand-cut into raw fish slices, paired with a specially developed sauce crafted in collaboration with Dongwon Home Food to enhance the natural flavors.
Usually, tuna sashimi is a dish with red pepper paste, soy sauce, and wasabi, but 'tuna meat sashimi' is different, according to the firm, as it maximizes the natural taste of tuna processed like raw beef.
Since October, "Tuna Meat Soup," which has been introduced on a trial basis at Traders' Wholesale Clubs nationwide in South Korea, has been introduced in limited editions for each branch, all of which were sold out early. Full-scale sales began on Dec. 19.
According to the firm, tuna provides high protein and essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Dongwon aims to establish "Tuna Yukhoe" as a staple, just as canned tuna became essential in Korean households since 1982. Expansion to additional suppliers is also planned.
