US President Donald Trump is considering imposing a 10% tariff on Chinese goods starting Feb. 1, BBC reported.
Labeling China as an "abuser," Trump underscored his commitment to addressing trade imbalances. He also cited concerns over fentanyl shipments to Mexico and Canada.
China countered the remarks, stating trade wars yield "no winners." The proposed tariff is significantly lower than the 60% Trump suggested during his campaign.
Trump also threatened tariffs on the European Union and accused Mexico and Canada of enabling drug trafficking and undocumented immigration. "The EU treats us very badly," he said, vowing retaliatory measures.
