A hot and spicy canned tuna, produced in the Philippines by Century Pacific Food, has been recalled in Canada due to an undeclared allergen.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall notice for Century's Light Tuna Flakes in Hot & Spicy Sauce on Friday (Jan. 24). While there have been no reports of adverse reactions to consuming the product, the agency warns that the product fails to identify wheat and gluten on the label. Failure to label a product with an allergen like wheat could cause an allergic reaction in someone with celiac disease or another gluten-related disorder.
Century's canned tuna was imported by AFOD Ltd Canada, which is based in Delta, British Columbia. The CFIA noted that it is verifying that the industry is removing the recalled product from shelves.
