The EU has taken legal action against the UK, arguing that its ban on sand eel fishing in North Sea waters violates post-Brexit fishing agreements, Reuters reported.
The case challenges UK restrictions on sand eel fishing, a €52 million ($56.3 million) industry primarily used for fishmeal production. EU representatives claim the ban violates post-Brexit agreements, while UK officials cite conservation needs.
The tribunal's ruling, expected in April, could authorize EU countermeasures if the UK's ban is found to breach the agreement.
