For years, the top 10 seafood firms remained largely unchanged, with Japan's Maruha Nichiro and Nissui holding the top spots.
However, Undercurrent News' newly released "Seafood Titans 150: The Sector's Largest Firms, First Edition" reveals significant shifts in the industry.
While Maruha Nichiro and Nissui remain in the top 10, other major players like Mowi, SalMar, Cooke, and Mitsubishi have moved up, thanks in part to the rising popularity of salmon. Cooke, for example, cracked the top 10 following its acquisition of Copeinca in November.
The report also shows that 14 companies surpassed $2 billion in annual revenue for the first time in 2023, highlighting the sector's rapid growth.
