US fast-casual seafood concept Captain D's is expanding its footprint to its 24th state.

The news follows the chain's recent announcement that it would be breaking into the UK with a 20-unit deal.

The Nashville, Tennesee-headquartered company, which is owned by private-equity firm Centre Partners Management, announced Wednesday (Feb. 5) that it signed two new deals, one to develop five restaurants in Maryland -- a new state for the chain -- and a second deal to develop three new locations in the San Antonio, Texas, market.

The deal in Maryland is a part of the seafood chain's strategic plan to grow into the US Northeast. Business partners Shahid Raza and Ahmed Fawad signed on to develop five restaurants in Prince George County in Baltimore's metro area in the next seven years.

In Texas, local businessmen Dave Peters, Brian Clemens and Ruben Cardenas will be developing three locations in San Antonio, with the first set to open around the Lackland Air Force Base in early 2026. Captain D's already has 18 locations in Texas.

Brad Reed, chief development officer of Captain D's, said that the expansion into new territories shows the company's commitment to "thoughtful, strategic growth up the eastern seaboard and west of the Mississippi."

The latest expansion in the US comes on the heels of a 20-unit deal to break into the UK -- its second international development agreement following another recent announcement of its Canadian expansion in Toronto. Captain D's first franchise in the UK is set to open in the London area this year.

There are more than Captain D's locations in the US, serving a variety of seafood options, including flounder, shrimp, catfish and oysters. Customers can get their favorite fish batter-dipped and fried, grilled or served as a sandwich.
