In-pond raceway systems in China aquaculture
In-pond raceway systems (IPRS) are helping to make Chinese aquaculture more sustainable. Designed by Jesse Chappell of Auburn University, IPRS technology boosts yield from large ponds used in carp aquaculture by storing fish in raceways and creating a water flow using aerators and dykes.
Funded by the US Soybean Council (USSEC), the technology has been deployed in China. There were at least 6,000 IPRS cells in production in China by late last year, according to Jim Zhang, a representative of the USSEC in China.
