Ocean Harvest refits surimi, fishmeal trawler for toothfish, hoki H&G
Argentina's largest toothfish catcher, Ocean Harvest's Estremar, restructured its operations in 2013 to address Argentina's challenging economic climate.
As part of this it consolidated all its quotas onto its surimi and fishmeal trawler Centurion del Atlantico, which had stopped operations due to high costs, and put its longliner Antarctic III up for sale.
It then proceeded to convert Centurion to make it into an H&G and filleting freezer vessel, while keeping the fishmeal lines.
The refit completed in early March, and Centurion went out on its first fishing campaign in on March 5, 2014, Estremar's new chairman Alan Mackern, former CEO of Yuken, told Undercurrent News.
