Thirty-three 10,000-gallon tanks filled with tilapia sit in a former Wal-Mart building in Chillicotte Missouri soon to be joined by 27 more. If US-based Quixotic Farming, which sells frozen tilapia fillets across the country, has its way, the old Wal-Mart will be completely full with tanks in the next three years.
That will lead Quixotic, which opened its doors in 2011 with a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in Colorado, to substantially boost its production up from 1 million fish today.
