The governor of Washington has endorsed a bill that would phase out the Atlantic salmon farming industry in the US state, after a controversy stemming from the collapse of a farm operated there by Canadian farmer Cooke Aquaculture in August 2017.
According to the Seattle Times, the bill later passed the state Senate Thursday by a wide margin. The legislation, approved on a vote of 35-12, would end Atlantic salmon net-pen farming in Washington as existing leases terminate by 2025. The bill now heads to the House [...]
