The Faroese salmon farmer Bakkafrost has guided for a harvest of 106,500 metric tons of Atlantic salmon in 2021, which would be the first time the company exceeded an annual harvest of 100,000t in its history, it announced in its second-quarter report.
This figure incorporates a head-on gutted weight of 62,500t from its Faroese farming operations and a further 44,000t from Scotland. This would represent increases of 25% and 12% over its current 2020 production forecasts of 50,000t and 39,000t in the Faroe Islands and Scotland respectively [...]
