Namibia's Seaflower Pelagic Processing, in which the state-owned Fishcor is a 40% stakeholder, has taken the government to court over its inclusion of 24,333 metric tons of horse mackerel in its recently-announced quota auction reports The Namibian.
Seaflower claims it has an agreement with Fishcor for 50,000t of horse mackerel quota for the next 15 years, ending 2033. The fishing company believes it has not received 24,333t of this quota in 2020, and wants to prevent the government from including this sum in the 72,000t up for grabs in the auction, which aims to raise funds for the COVID-19 relief effort [...]
