2020 has been a wild ride for many of the world’s shrimp farmers, but China's can claim to have had the most topsy-turvy year of all, according to an executive with Taiwanese aquafeed and tilapia firm Grobest.
Vincent Lin, general manager and head of food at Grobest, said COVID-19 lockdowns, logistical challenges, a crash in farmgate prices over Chinese New Year, outbreaks of shrimp disease, and scares linking seafood with coronavirus reaffirm that farming shrimp in China is not for the faint-hearted.
