Premium Svensk Lax will invest €95 million in the construction of Sweden's first land-based salmon farm, which will account for 20% of the country's total salmon consumption, according to the company.
A month ago, the country's environmental assessment authority gave the green light to the construction of the farm, which will be built in Saffle, Varmland, covering 58,000 cubic meters of one and a half hectares of industrial land.
Preliminary work has already started, and it is expected to be ready for full-scale production in 2024. When fully developed, the farm's production capacity is 10,000 metric tons of whole fish per year.
