US pollock catches, output make up for lost ground as A season winds downDespite a rocky start to the pollock A season in the US state of Alaska that raised concerns that fish would be left in the water this year, shoreside plants and others remain at work and output is ticking up. Recent data from the US National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration show that of the 604,450 metric tons of pollock quota available to be harvested in the 2021 A season in the Bering Sea and the Aleutian Islands, 554,649t, or 91.2%, has been caught to date.
