The UK government has failed to reach a new fishery access agreement with Norway, a situation which is likely to be devastating for the British distant water fleet.
A new access deal was necessary this year as the old one, under which UK vessels could catch a certain quota of Arctic cod in Norwegian waters, was agreed between Norway and the EU.
