A diplomatic dispute has erupted between Russia and Japan after three Japanese fishermen were killed in a collision with a Russian vessel last month, reported South China Morning Post.
On May 26, a Japanese crab fishing boat collided with the Russian vessel Amur and capsized in the Sea of Okhotsk, north of Hokkaido island, leaving three crewmembers dead.
Japanese investigators later detained a 38-year-old Russian sailor and charged him with professional negligence resulting in death and endangering traffic due to negligence. A court in the port of Mombetsu in Hokkaido ordered the Russian ship’s seizure pending a compensation claim [...]
