Mowi's bid for ownership of NTS, a rapidly-growing Norwegian aquaculture group, would give it control over nearly a quarter of the world's salmon production if it goes ahead.
The firm -- already the world's largest Atlantic salmon producer by volume -- announced its bid of NOK 13.8 billion ($1.5bn) for NTS' operation on Jan. 24.
At the present stage, NTS owns central Norwegian farmer SalmoNor which it acquired and merged with its existing nearby farming operation Midt-Norsk Havbruk last June. The newly-created entity is targeting production of 36,500 metric tons this year, and 39,000t in 2023 [...]
