Russian imports of Chilean salmon climb despite emphasis on domestic supply

Chile is increasing salmon exports to the Eurasian Economic Union even with Russia's own wild and farmed output on the rise

Russian salmon: 520 metric tons HOG salmon caught in 2021. 250t Pacific salmon (coho), 120t national production, 130t imported. 11t Atlantic salmon, 40t farmed in Russia (in 2023 expected to rise to 55,000t). 70t refrigerator and frozen salmon from the Faroe Islands and Chile, respectively. From Chilei in 2022, 51,400t imported, and between January and Nov. 10: 59,500t.
