Undercurrent News is proposing the implementation of weekly US wholesale price reporting for the groundfish market. We are gathering industry participant feedback to ensure these assessments align with market needs.
The UCN price assessments will represent product from the most significant trade partners to the US and reflect trade from the importer to the first receiver.

The proposed specifications will cover a wide range of groundfish products, including single and twice-frozen varieties, processed blocks, and surimi, focusing on key species such as cod, haddock, pollock, and sole. Details of the coverage are outlined below:
Sample proposed product coverage:
Market specifications: The price reporting will focus on ex-warehouse pricing for all sectors except processed blocks, which will be reported on a free on board (FOB), New England delivery basis.
Quotation series: Prices will reflect less-than-truckload (LTL) volumes, expressed in $/lb. This will provide buyers, sellers, traders, and market participants with a comprehensive understanding of market values at key points in the supply chain.
This initiative aims to provide valuable and independent price benchmarks for the groundfish industry, complementing our established reputation as a credible global seafood news supplier. With nearly 3,000 data sets across key species, this new service will further strengthen our offerings.
