The Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) has welcomed feed firm Cargill, additives producer Adisseo, and Spanish microbiosensor pioneer BIOLAN as associate members, reinforcing its mission to promote sustainable, transparent, and responsible shrimp farming globally, it said.
"This strategic alliance reflects the growing momentum across the value chain to advance a more responsible shrimp production worldwide," it said.
SSP director Pamela Nath emphasized the importance of a united industry approach, stating that progress requires collaboration across all stages of production. She noted that the involvement of Adisseo, BIOLAN, and Cargill brings the SSP closer to its sustainability goals.
Representatives from each company expressed their commitment to the partnership. Adisseo's Lucas Assis highlighted the potential for shared innovation, while BIOLAN's CEO Asier Albizu pointed to the opportunity for advancing traceability and digitalization in Ecuadorian shrimp production. Dave Robb from Cargill underscored the importance of fostering industry-wide transparency and environmental standards.
The addition of these companies strengthens SSP's network, which includes existing partners like nutrition firm BASF, BioMar, and Skretting. SSP is a pre-competitive platform that brings together companies that aim to elevate global aquaculture practices.
