The UCN price assessments will represent products from the most significant trade partners to the US and reflect trade from the importer to the first receiver.
The proposed specifications will cover an initial range of salmon products with a focus on key categories, such as fresh fillets and frozen portions. Details of the coverage are outlined below:
Sample proposed product coverage:
Pricing basis: The fresh and frozen Chilean salmon market is priced regionally on an FOB basis from the seller's dock in Miami.
Quotation series: Prices will reflect pallet-level trade volumes at 3,500lbs., expressed in $/lb. This will provide buyers, sellers, traders, and market participants with a comprehensive understanding of market values at key points in the supply chain.
This initiative aims to provide valuable and independent price benchmarks for the salmon industry, complementing our established reputation as a credible global seafood news supplier. With nearly 3,000 data sets across key species, this new service will further strengthen our offerings.
UCN is also planning to initiate US wholesale price coverage of crab and live lobster in the coming weeks.
