Los Angeles, California-based seafood wholesaler Sea Win is recalling 650 cases of its frozen half-shell oysters, imported from South Korea, after the state's public health department received notifications of multiple illnesses related to their consumption.
The oysters being recalled are labeled KR 7 SP with harvest dates of Jan. 30, 2024, and Feb. 4, 2024. The company said that the oysters were distributed specifically in the city of Los Angeles and Irvine, California, to other wholesale distributors.
Tthe California Department of Public Health received multiple reports of illnesses related to the consumption of the specified boxes of oysters. It's believed that the oysters may possibly be contaminated with norovirus, which can cause nausea, vomiting, fever and diarrhea, among other symptoms.
Sea Win is urging consumers who purchased its frozen half-shell oysters to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
