Veeser, 28, worked on vessels in the Bering Sea for the last nine years, most recently serving as a crew member on board the Lady Alaska, a 124-foot-long crab fishing vessel that had previously been featured on Discovery Channel's reality series Deadliest Catch, according to local paper the Daily Press.
Per reports, Veseer was last seen Friday around midnight, walking down the G1 dock at UniSea’s processing facility. Police were alerted to a missing person at around 5:30 p.m. that night, and a search for the crew member began around 7 p.m. However, the search was suspended at civil twilight that evening.
Search efforts resumed at 8 a.m. on Saturday. Veeser's body was discovered in the water around 10:30 a.m. along Captain's Bay Rd. The Unalaska Police Department is following up on the incident.
