Caraluzzi's Markets, a family-owned and operated group of grocery markets in the US state of Connecticut, has issued a recall for its Italian Style Seafood Burgers after a consumer report of an allergic reaction.
Caraluzzi's Markets sold its Italian Style Seafood Burger, made with cod, salmon, shrimp, and scallops, at all four of its stores, located in Bethel, Wilton, Newton and Danbury, Connecticut. The product, which comes in an 8-oz clear packaging with a blue overwrap label, has an expiration date of 1/16/2026 on it.
Per the notice posted by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated following a consumer complaint. Upon further investigation, the FDA found that product containing egg was "distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of egg."
The FDA said that the mislabeled product has been removed from shelves. Consumers who purchased the product are urged to return them to Caraluzzi's Markets for a refund.
