Undercurrent News has launched an API service for data partners to pull and utilize our seafood commodity prices, with trade data coming soon.
This service is designed to provide our data partners - including buying teams, commodity tracking services, and financial institutions - with immediate access to over 3,300 price datasets covering various seafood commodities such as salmonids, whitefish, tuna, shrimp, shellfish, and pelagics/fishmeal.
An API is available for all the data, or you can purchase access to one for any of the five species groups mentioned above.

Trade dataFor fishmeal, the API gives you access to both export prices from Peru, the main producer, and import prices from China, the largest market. Then, we also have prices for soybean pellets from Argentina.
We offer pricing data on a range of pelagic species, including herring, mackerel, and sardines from various regions. For herring and mackerel, the API gives access to Norwegian export prices for fillets and whole fish, as well as EU imports. The EU import prices also include data from the Faroe Islands and Iceland. The API also gives access to fillet and whole Atlantic herring prices, both export and EU imports. In addition, the EU import prices also include sardines from Morocco.
The API gives access to a range of prices for salmon, both farmed and wild. For farmed, we have prices for salmon from Norway, Chile, and Scotland, which update weekly. In addition to the FOB Oslo prices for head-on, gutted salmon from Norway, we have export prices to various origins in Asia, Europe and the US for fresh and frozen Norwegian salmon in various different product specifications. We also have export and EU import prices for Norwegian trout. Then, we have historic prices for the main Alaska salmon species, which are chum, Chinook, coho, pink and sockeye.
Our API gives access to weekly farmgate vannamei shrimp prices in various sizes from all the major regions, including Ecuador, India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. In addition, the API includes black tiger shrimp from Vietnam and India. In terms of wild catch, the API has prices for Argentine red shrimp, Icelandic coldwater shrimp and North Sea shrimp. As for other shellfish, the API includes data for species such as king and snow crab from Norway, US lobster and scallops, in addition to various indexes for squid and octopus.
We provide data on several key tuna indexes, including the prices for skipjack raw material delivered to Bangkok, Thailand, and ex-vessel prices in Manta, Ecuador. The API also includes ex-vessel prices for skipjack in Abidjan, the Ivory Coast, in the Atlantic, as well as in the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. The API also gives access to yellowfin prices in Abidjan and the Seychelles. A key yellowfin index available via the API is the delivered price for loins for canning in Spain.
The API gives access to a vast range of farmed and wild whitefish prices. On the wild side, key indexes include headed and gutted Russian Atlantic cod, haddock, and pollock delivered to China. The API also has prices for pin-bone out US pollock fillets, another key benchmark. Then, it has auction prices for fresh and frozen Norwegian cod and haddock, in addition to frozen saithe, which update daily. The API also gives daily updating auction prices for Icelandic cod, haddock, saithe and other whitefish from Iceland and also Shetland, in the UK. For farmed whitefish, we have farm-gate prices for tilapia from China and pangasius from Vietnam, in addition to export prices to key markets for the latter. For pangasius, the API also gives prices for pangasius fingerlings from Vietnam. Then, the API also gives access for seabass and seabream from various origins at the MercaMadrid auction in Spain. Then, it has EU import prices for Turkish bass and bream.
