Tour Boston Sword’s new plant
Boston Sword & Tuna (BST) invited Undercurrent News to visit its new 50,000-square-foot plant during the big Boston seafood show, March 12-14, 2023. Opened in 2020 on a 6.5-acre property on Codfish Way in the Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, the facility replaced a 33,000sf plant located just a half-mile away. The new location is also less than three miles from Logan International Airport.
BST needed more space after growing 10% to 22% every year for seven years before the move, as reported by Undercurrent. But, following BST’s recent announced acquisition by Fortune Fish International, the company already is planning to build an addition because it needs more space, CEO and co-founder Michael Scola told us during our visit.

The new location is state-of-the-art with a continuously controlled temperature monitoring system which is managed through energy consumption for maximum efficiency. BST has also installed an automated ozonated water system with both on and offsite monitoring as well as door foamers to sanitize all rolling equipment as it travels throughout the facility. Each one of BST's processing divisions are equipped with wall-mounted sanitation systems.
