Pollock processors in Dutch Harbor, Alaska
Dutch Harbor, located on the island of Unalaska, is home to some of the pollock industry’s most prominent players — Nippon Suissan Kaisha-owned Unisea and two of Maruha Nichiro’s pollock subsidiaries, Westward Seafoods and its off-shoot, Alyeska.
The companies process pollock into fillets, surimi, fishmeal, fish oil and more on the shores of Unalaska’s Dutch Harbor, utilizing product from dedicated coop fleets.
They opened the doors of their plant up to Undercurrent in late July, a little over a month into B season. Read our coverage here.
