Still standing in US tilapia: Blue Ridge Aquaculture

Undercurrent News recently visited Blue Ridge Aquaculture, the largest land-based tilapia facility in the US. Started 25 years ago by William Martin, the company has survived in a tough market to deliver almost 2,000 metric tons of fish per year and is looking to further expand its operation. 

Martin believes that one of the keys of his company's success has been its ability to operate independently. It employs its own brood stock program, makes its own live deliveries and, following a recent $5 million investment, has started its own feed mill.
