Grieg Seafood is a leading producer of quality farmed salmon, with a proven track record of achievement. The company is one of Scotland’s largest producers of Scottish salmon with an annual production of 18,000 tonnes.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our company and engage in the production of Atlantic Salmon Smolt at our freshwater hatchery facility based at Girlsta, Shetland.
The Role:
Assisting in the management of the hatchery’s human and material resources and developing these to improve production. The Assistant Manager reports to the Hatchery Manager and is part of the hatchery division’s management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Organising, monitoring and motivating the hatchery’s personnel.
- Supervision of employees to ensure that all required operational standards are met and maintained
- Understanding, organising and improving hatchery operations
- Administrative duties relating to Standard Operating Procedures, Legal and Health & Safety Requirements, Audit Standards/Quality Control Procedures, Staffing & Training, Procurement, Smolt Quality Control
- Logistics & Planning
- Stock performance reporting & review
- Hands-on involvement in daily operations
Qualifications:
Essential:
- 3 years recent Aquaculture and Management experience
- Self-motivated and ambitious individual who works well in a team
- Physically fit
- Full clean driving licence
- Computer literate & proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent English written and verbal communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Flexible attitude to working hours
Desirable:
- Diploma or Degree in Aquaculture or related subject
- Proficient with Fishtalk software
Training will be provided for the successful candidate
