Job description

The Global Seafood Allianceis an international, nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy and third-party assurances. Through the development of its Best Aquaculture Practices and Best Seafood Practices certification programs, GSA has become the leading provider of assurances for seafood globally. The organization’s work addresses the full spectrum of responsibility, including environmental responsibility, social accountability, and food safety. Established in 1997 as the Global Aquaculture Alliance, GSA is headquartered in Portsmouth, N.H., USA.

GSA is recruiting for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to provide leadership and oversight of the Information Technology team within the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA). Specific program responsibilities are for the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), and Best Seafood Practices (BSP) and the development and implementation of a GSA Data Hub. Additionally, the CTO shall promote and achieve collaboration with other GSA functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical aspects of the GSA strategy to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Identify and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage.
  • Use technological trends to maximize internal system efficiencies and to generate revenue growth through external packaging.
  • Lead the IT program in conjunction with the IT Manager, acting as the external representative for IT projects.
  • Identify innovation in IT systems to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer service. Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology.
  • Assist departments in use of technology with eye toward profitability.
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes.
  • Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance.
  • Stay current of technology trends and developments.
  • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in financial management, including development and management of P&L.
  • Strong working knowledge of current technological trends with data collection, analysis and use to build strategy, maximize internal efficiencies and generate revenue.
  • Advanced technological skillset and a demonstrated history with success in creating and implementing technology.
  • Strong customer facing experience with demonstrated achievement of revenue goals from sales of programs and products.
  • Superior leadership, management and team building skills, ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers; strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to present to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in development of KPIs and creating a culture of achievement and accountability.
  • Proven ability to work with sensitivity toward and commitment to seek input from different cultural business styles including North American, European and Chinese / Asian.
  • Ability to maintain professional image and represent GAA / GSA with professionalism and integrity.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of increasing responsibility in a technology leadership role.
  • Proven success in practical IT leadership experience.
  • P&L responsibility and background in developing and implementing strategic plans.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or related field; MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
