Job description

Do you love Fisheries and using data to increase sustainability?

Do you have ambition and drive to create a change?

If so, OceanMind is the place for you!

The Problem

90% of the world’s fish stocks are nearing or already beyond the limits of sustainable fishing.  Illegal fishing risks pushing those stocks over the edge.  With over 3 billion people relying on seafood as their main source of protein, and the livelihoods of 12% of the world’s population depending upon the fishing industry, this is fast becoming a global crisis.

Our Solution

Our team of fisheries compliance experts, empowered by advanced technology, are helping authorities and seafood buyers around the world drive greater sustainability of ocean resources through increased compliance and promoting the rule of law at sea. We understand and distil all relevant data to help our customers understand the impact of fishing compliance, and to help them take action against non-compliance.  We are at the forefront of change in the oceans.

The Role of Fisheries Analyst

Are you intellectually curious, organised, analytical; really enjoy learning about all aspects of fisheries? Then you are in the right place! You will work with a passionate and dedicated team that are trying to improve fisheries sustainability globally by providing actionable insight into vessel operations at sea. Using your knowledge of fisheries operations and management, and analytic skills you will produce intelligence reports and risk assessments that may include developing daily patrol recommendations, case notes, or risk assessments. You will also work with technical experts to enhance system capabilities and with external partners to identify opportunities to advance fisheries sustainability and maritime rule of law. The position comes with significant opportunities for training and growth as you help this new organisation grow and have the greatest global impact possible.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with decision makers, government officials and national and international institutions, as well as relevant industry groups and NGOs in the field.
  • Participate in strategy sessions with industry, NGOs, scientists and other stakeholders as needed.
